I am a scholar-activist, and am an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Political Science at SUNY Oneonta. I received my PhD in Political Science, with a focus in Political Theory, from the University at Albany, SUNY, in 2011.
My research, which focuses on the relationship between political parties, class, climate and the social metabolism of capitalism through the lens of Marxist state and value-form theory, overlaps significantly with my work in the political realm.
I have been a professional campaign manager for Congressional campaigns, a researcher-organizer for the consumer advocate Ralph Nader, and a manager or part of the campaign team for federal, state, and local candidates. I have also run for local and state office. For the past twenty years I have been a co-chair or member of the executive committee for the Green Party of New York.
I believe in a pedagogy of praxis and use my experiences in the political realm to inform my teaching and to inspire students to become involved in issues that matter to them.
